After first establishing the company in 1990, brothers Mel and Andrew Streek relocated Claygate into more spacious premises in October 2008. Only a short distance from the original site, the new 115,000 sq ft building signalled a new era for the company and its staff. With expansion fresh in mind, it meant that Claygate could go beyond its expectations and that is exactly what it has done.
Due to the move, Claygate have been able to include more products from new and exciting manufacturers in the price book, which include: April Products, Aqualux, Britton Bathrooms, Burlington, Clearwater, Hudson Reed, Kaldewei, Kudos, Lecico, Roca, Ultra and Vitra.
Acquiring these to the portfolio has ensured that every type of customer is catered for. As well as continuing to deliver throughout Southern England on a next day basis, Claygate also delivers to the West Country, East Anglia and South Wales on a two x two-day delivery basis, indicating that Claygate’s big and bold move has created great development and continuous expansion. Additionally, Helen Grant MP officially opened our new 30,000 sq ft warehouse in May 2013. Each department is important to Claygate’s operation and here’s why:
Warehouse & Distribution
At the very heart of the distribution centre, the warehouse holds over 11,000 product lines from 40 manufacturers, ranging from guttering and clips to shower enclosures and whirlpool baths. To ensure these products meet with our customers, a fleet of 30 lorries and vans are in force, all connected by mobile phones and tracking technology on a guaranteed next-day delivery basis. With approximately 30 staff working on a split-shift system, their responsibility is to make sure that the lorries are loaded and their drivers commence delivery on time. Our Transport Manager has overall control of the vehicles and deliveries and the Warehouse Manager oversees the daily operation of this.
Our dedicated Sales team of highly trained co-ordinators receive an excess of 1,000 calls every day. Backing the internal team, our seven reps also cover the whole of our distribution area, keeping customers up to date with the latest products and offers, as well as bringing new customers on board. The collaboration of both teams ensures that our customers have maximum support and service when ordering from us. Our Sales Manager oversees the internal team, while our Sales Director supervises the Sales reps.
Customer Services deal with any returns or queries that our customers may have, understanding that support for our customers is vital. The team consists of a Customer Service Supervisor and three Customer Service Co-ordinators. This department also deals with any technical queries or problems that may arise. Additionally, the team works alongside Sales and Accounts when particular issues may surface, offering reassurance to our customers if any errors occur.
Our Accounts department includes an Accounts Supervisor, two Accounts Assistants and two Credit Controllers. Along with the Financial Director, the department controls all of our customers’ accounts and ensures credit limits are maintained. They also deal with the general finances of the company, keeping in check Claygate’s operation.
Consisting of a Purchasing Manager and three Purchasing Co-ordinators, this department is responsible for ordering the manufacturers’ products we stock and maintaining healthy stock levels. They also liaise with the Sales department to ensure maximum customer service.
Design & Marketing
With our in-house designer, Claygate have been able to style and create the company into what it is today. We have also been able to improve and develop the price book more and more as time has gone by, incorporating new products with existing ones. Our designer collaborates with our Marketing Co-ordinator, promoting our products to new and existing customers and advertising Claygate within the bathroom industry.
IT & Communications
Like every company in the present day, our IT and Communication resources are extremely important. This department enables Claygate to remain up to date with the latest systems and software and ensure that any glitches that may occur are eradicated before they become major problems.
